Solo is a 2nd generation Versatility Award winner and a half
sister to 2010 Versatility Springer "Spice" through her dam, Am
Can Ch Serenade's Spirit of Alynn VCD1, a Versatile Springer in
2002.
A singleton puppy, I had high expectations for her from the very
beginning, and she never let me down. Introduced to tracking,
field, and agility at a very early age Solo showed a strong
desire to work. At 3 years old she earned her Master Hunter
title in only 5 trials. At 4 years of age she had been an ESSFTA
multi titlist for 4 years!
What a thrill when Solo went Best of Winners at the 2010
National Specialty to complete her championship, and made breed
history by becoming the first Master Hunter to finish a bench
championship title at a National Specialty. She further
demonstrated her versatility and work ethic by qualifying in
obedience and agility at the same National.
I am proud to say Solo was breeder-owner handled to all her
performance titles, and I look forward to her producing puppies
capable of becoming 3rd generation achievers of this coveted
award. |

CH KIRWIN TAILS YOU WIN UDX RE JH NA NAJ

LT |
|
Owned by Kathryn Kirk & Kathleen Kallis |
8 yrs ago Australia posted that they wanted springers to be
undocked. I said "what the hell is this about" now Australia
wants to ban docking. I had a new litter and decided to leave a
tail on one pup as I had never seen a springer with a natural
tail. I thought ,well if he is only pet quality I can give him
away and if show quality I will have to dock it if I can't
finish him natural.
Every other week I would ask lil Cathy to bring me that long
tail pup and lets see how he looks. By the 4th month I know he
would finish if the tail gods were with me so we had to name
him. Since I referred to him as That Long Tail Pup we named him
LT.
A better ambassador for Springers you won't find anywhere. Ask
the crowd at his 1st agility trial when he took off and ran his
own course. Or the obedience crowd at Eastern during the out of
site down when he barked and rolled (never got up) till I
returned. He always sucked up to the crowd. I had to warn people
not to laugh at him or he will "go off" and do his own routine.
Despite his shananigans he earned his UDX in 8months. He went
Best in Sweeps as an 8month pup, his 1st entry in conformation
and, as far as I know, he is the first undocked american bred
springer to finish a championship.
But most of all HE MAKES ME HAPPY AND IS A TRUE COMPANION. |

Chrystal |
|
Owned by Mindy S. Mymudes |
Chrystal is one of those dogs who is a perfectionist. She hates
to be wrong and really didn't need a handler to earn her OTCh.
Hunting turned out to be another issue. Although she had the
aptitude and loved being in the field, water was an issue. She
was bitten twice by a snapping turtle, one bad enough to bleed.
It could have been worse, but it was at a hunt test. So, three
legs in a row and then bust. She'd do great in the field, get to
the water, and leave.
Finally, I took her to a different trainer and we coaxed her
back in the water. We set up hunt test scenarios, and she went
in, no problem. If there wasn't a real test, she loved to swim,
crying to go in. Go figure. The big day came and she passed the
land (of course) and we went to the water. I released her. She
went behind me. Started for the car. Looked at me. I looked at
her and made a little prayer. What could I do to get her in that
water.
A voice came to me and I repeated what I heard. ROAST BEEF
SANDWICH! She dove into the water without a care in the world,
grabbed her bird, brought it to me, was leashed, then took off
for her reward in the van.
JH pass, and the VS to boot. |

After I found out I was going to be under bed rest for a month,
we decided to send Cera out to finish her Championship. She has
a tendency to express her happiness by leaping straight up to
kiss noses. At least if she was out of the house she'd get to do
something interesting. Well, Cera went to Texas and finished at
the first show she was entered in. She didn't get to do much
anyway. When she got home, she was very excited to do nearly
anything I asked, and earned her Open Fast title in addition to
her first SH leg. Not bad for a dog who wasn't trained for 6
months. My third generation of VS, her mother Chrys also earned
hers in 2010 and her grandmother Charm in 2002, Cera is a joyful
worker. She is also very sociable. Nobody doesn't love Cera Lee. |

Spice |
|
Owned by Anne Hutchinson and Marilyn Winchester |
Spice is a 2nd generation Versatility Award recipient following
in the paw prints of her dam Am.Can Ch Serenade's Spirit of
Alynn VCD1, a Versatile Springer in 2002. Spice does everything
with gusto and thrives on learning a variety of things in the
same time frame.
She was Anne's pick bitch in her litter based on her overall
quality and demonstrated hunting instincts. When a bird wing
was tossed among her siblings, Spice said "this is MINE", so her
destiny was to be more than just a show dog. She is a fast
learner, enthusiastic in everything she does, but hunting is her
true passion. Always hunted in full show coat, a field trialer
seeing her working in heavy cover said, "she took my breath
away."
She has been a muliti-titleist three years in a row and is a
group winner in Canada. She is trained and handled in all
performance events by Lynn.
Spice is a true ambassador of the breed; she is delighted to
make new friends with everyone she meets. We are both proud to
have shared in her success. |

Wrigley |

Owned by Julie Damgaard and Timothy Damgaard |
In the summer of 2006 I visited Watterbargers in the Seattle
area to look at their 10 -week old puppies. Suddenly, a black
and white boy sailed through the air towards a live pigeon,
caught it and brought it to me. At that moment I knew that
Wrigley was the dog for us.
Hunting came very naturally to him and we soon found out that he
also loved agility and obedience. In each of his first four
years he was an ESSFTA multi-titlist recipient. Tim and I never
really thought about obtaining his VS award; it simply happened.
The final piece of the puzzle came when he received his
Championship at the Land 'O Lakes show in January 2010. Looking
back on it now, earning this award does not surprise us as it
seems to run in his genes as this award was also obtained by his
sire, Canvas, and grand-sire, Colours.
Wrigley is full of enthusiasm and lives in the present moment no
matter what activity he is involved in, even if it is simply
chasing critters out of his yard or going for a walk. He always
has fun and he makes sure that we do too. We are truly blessed
to have this boy as a part of our family as he enriches our
lives every day! |
