In December 2003, Canvas received his best
Christmas present ever – a home with the Simonsons. Finished by Karen Miller,
one of his biggest fans, this patient fellow was the ‘middle child’ at
Hillcrest, without deserved opportunities to use his talents. They’ve spent the
ensuing years doting on one another and staying busy - Lloyd doing tracking,
agility and hunting, and Kathi doing obedience, rally and therapy. -
Henriette
 Our
best Christmas present, he’s a biddable boy who lives to please his family.
We’ve been so proud of Canvas as he has earned these titles, doing everything
asked of him, although it’s obvious his real love is hunting. But we are never
prouder of him than when he’s working as a TDI therapy dog. His weekly visits
include Oncology and Surgery waiting areas, and occasionally Physical Therapy,
at a local Medical Center where his loving eyes and gentle manner have a
remarkably positive affect on both patients and staff.
As he carries on the versatile tradition of his
sire, Hardy, and grandsire, Colours (VS in ’99), his offspring are continually
reporting their successes in the show, obedience, and agility rings and the
field to us. While we are thrilled at their success, we are even more pleased to
know they also have his sound body and mind and easy-to-live-with character. –
